The one rule: no re-uploads, remixes or covers on streaming services

Please don't re-upload or release the music on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, YouTube Music or Deezer through DistroKid, TuneCore or any other distributor, whether as-is, sped up, slowed, in a compilation, or as a remix, a track that samples it, or a cover. Many distributors register releases in Content ID, so those releases are what cause false claims on other creators' videos. Using it inside your own videos and posts is fine.

FAQ

Will I get a Content ID claim?

Not from Purrple Cat. Self Release albums are not registered in YouTube Content ID, and never will be, so Purrple Cat won't claim your video. If a third party ever falsely claims a track, dispute it with the CC BY 4.0 license and your credit. False claims are dealt with promptly once reported.

Can I use it in monetized videos?

Yes. CC BY 4.0 allows commercial use, so monetized YouTube videos are fine. Just include the credit line.

Can I use it on streams and Twitch?

Yes. Livestreams, Twitch, VODs, shorts, podcasts and games are all fine, with credit (a chat command or panel works for streams).

Can I use it on TikTok, Instagram and other social media?

Yes. Purrple Cat Self Release music can be used on every social media platform: YouTube (videos, Shorts and livestreams), TikTok, Instagram and Reels, Facebook, X, Twitch, Snapchat and the rest, with credit.

Can I upload the music, or a remix or cover of it, to Spotify or other streaming services?

Please don't. Purrple Cat's one rule is no re-uploads to streaming services like Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, YouTube Music or Deezer, through DistroKid, TuneCore or any other distributor, whether as-is, sped up, slowed, in a compilation, or as a remix, a track that samples it, or a cover. Many distributors register releases in Content ID, so those releases are what cause false claims on other creators' videos. Using the music in your own videos on any social platform is fine.

Which tracks can I use?

Purrple Cat Self Releases are CC BY 4.0. Releases on other labels may have different terms, so check the license shown on the download page before using a track.
